Meet Us

Welcome to the online home of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church. We're excited to have you visit our site, and hope that you're able to learn a little more about our church and the work that God is doing in and through us while you're here. Everyone is welcome at Melbourne Heights, and we hope that you'll join us for a Sunday or Wednesday service soon.

Where is Melbourne Heights?

We are located at 3728 Taylorsville Road right off of the Waterson Expressway (I-264) at exit 17a.

I am a visitor. Where do I park?

If you are planning to visit us for a worship service, we recommend that you park in the front of our building. As you enter our front doors, the sanctuary is located on your right, and restrooms are located on your left. You will find designated parking spots for visitors, or handicapped spaces if needed.

What is worship like?

Ronald Byars has said that in worship, "God picks us up, brushes us off, and replenishes our store of love - for God and for God's world." This is what we try to do when we worship at Melbourne Heights.

We follow a basic pattern for worship each week, but each service is uniquely designed to emphasize that service's theme. Every time we gather for worship, we sing a mixture of familiar hymns and new songs (accompanied by piano and organ) together as a congregation, we pray together as a congregation, and we listen for a word from God together.

How long are worship services?

Usually about an hour.

What's the dress code?

There is no dress code to attend services at Melbourne Heights. You will find that most people dress in "business attire," which means that about half our men - including our pastor - wear a coat and/or tie. However, you will also find people in khakis, blue jeans, tennis shoes and flip flops.

What about our kids?

When we gather for worship, we love for all ages to come together. During our service, we offer a special "Children's Sermon" that is geared directly for children. We also include periodic elements in our worship services that our children love and are encouraged to participate in - like our blossoming cross at Easter.

However, we also understand that there are times when parents prefer for their children to learn about God on their own level. Because of this, we offer a nursery for children under 3 during our entire service - with a pager system to contact parents, as well as an extended session for our older children (from ages 3 through 3rd grade) during the second half of our worship service most weeks.
